Is told in the fields of the Colombian plains that an angry woman called Ana Alcázar, took the life of her son. A baby with just few months that do not met the love and tenderness of a mother, to his misfortune he met face to face the terrifying picture of the death sent to him by the same woman who brought him into the world.
With no reason and blinded by the despair of a child who came into her life without been hoped for, the woman set free her deepest and darkest desires, so one night between weeping and yell ,this woman attended the death's work as it's messenger, drowning the child in a brave and stubborn river that lashed the kid to his inevitable end.
"Everyone knows that you should not even get close to that river," say the habitants of the surrounding towns in Antioquia. That was precisely the mistake that consummated the sin of the woman that has be known as LA LLORONA since that fateful day.
Touched by what she had done, feeling the anger and unhappiness over her shoulders, given to her by the sorrowful soul of that child, now dead, she jumped into the river trying to rescue the creature that once was her son. Without hope, she surrendered to the depths of the river waiting to die and leave her sorrow.
Meanwhile two men who had seen the terrifying scene were launched to rescue the woman, but after get her closer to shore, found with more than wonder and amazement, the same face of madness and pain, who had come to possess the soulless body.
For days the woman wander the town and all the surrounding places as if she were a ghost, with cries and groans summoned the presence of her son and looking at the children's faces in the streets and forests. Screaming and grieving for the absence of her son, s he frightened the people day and night.
A word, an idea and the worth, would bring these people a curse that has been told for decades. They decided to give her a blanket that would lead the the son that she had looked for so long, so, they did it with hopes of calming the pain of that woman and ward off the misfortune of the town.
It is forbidden to play with the life of the son of a mother, the elders of the town said, and hours later they would understand why. The woman spent a few hours with a blanket in her arms cradling her son, but in a moment of curiosity and memories, removed the blanket and found the crude move of the villagers. Like a beast out of hell, the woman returned to the village to look for er son, a son who was not there.
With fury, she unleashed her anger and pain with the town's people and cursed them also condemning her soul to wander by the town until they paid for what they did and could relief her pain.
With fury, she unleashed her anger and pain with the town's people and cursed them also condemning her soul to wander by the town until they paid for what they did and could relief her pain.
Since then, theres no town in Antioquia that not told the story of the woman and it is said that her lament around the villages is heard, and it is also said that she punishes anyone who wants to threaten his or her life near the river and take the lifes of children who are lost in the fields, trying to find her young son. So, be careful with your steps, because you do not know what or who you can find near a river by the Colombian fields and plains.
